One of the classic stories in my family is that when Uncle Bob asked Grandpa for money to buy kite sticks, Grandpa handed him a handsaw and a yardstick and suggested he could make his own for free. Now that I have learned about sharpening saws I see that maybe Grandpa wasn't being so tough after all. This article describes the process I used to cleanup, sharpen, and customize Dad's 1950's Disston crosscut. Includes references.
